Groundhog Day

Writer's picture: Ellen GittelsohnEllen Gittelsohn

First, Please send you thoughts on Cyndi's suggestion (thank you Cyndi) that we meet every two weeks perhaps on a different day for the second meeting. One possibility would be to do the homework/practice at the end of each Kabbalah One lesson. Our second meeting could be a full one hour discussion on how the homework/practice is going.

Eitan Yardeni mentioned Groundhog Day in Kabbalah One, lesson 5 What happens if we come out of our hole and see our shadow thanks to the opponent in our lives. In the movie Groundhog Day (one of my favorites) Bill Murray sees the same opponent over and over until he begins to see the light or opportunities that appear when he stops reacting in the same way he has always reacted. Eitan's advice is to:

  1. Be aware of reactivity.

  2. Recognize what triggered you.

  3. Identify the voice of the opponent.

Next, know that resisting reacting to your opponent is an opportunity to connect with your soul and listen to that calm still voice that knows you are safe, protected and that everything will be fine. I think this is the practice.

Using some conversation bits from our last meeting, what would happen if you did not react to the dead raccoon in the road, the objectionable email or the pressure to be super human?

Every time I am able to pause and listen to my soul, I calm down and am starting to feel the expansiveness of time and space. Eitan's homework is to meditate daily listening to the voice of the soul. I'm going to check out the app Dialing God for the Kabbalah Centre guide to prayer and meditation. Also, Eitan Yardeni is on YouTube.

Our next meeting will be Monday, March 1 at 6:00 pm. We will be watching Kabbalah One, lesson 6.
