Observe the Opponent and Embrace the Process

Kabbalah One, Class 4

Spiritual Rule #1: Reveal the Light. Act like the Light.

Spiritual Tool #1: Pause, what a pleasure!

Spiritual Rule #2: My life is a perfect plan to help me with my soul correction (tikkun).

Spiritual Tool #2: Why is this in my movie?

Spiritual Rule #3: Overcoming the opponent within reveals the power of our soul.

Spiritual Tool #3: Observe the voice of the opponent.

The secret to speeding up the process: Observe the voice of the opponent and embrace the process now.

Such an interesting class. Here are some of our comments paraphrased and augmented with reminders of Eitan Yardeni's wonderful teaching.

Joni: Eitan's teaching about how our desire to get high coming from a true natural desire to experience the light that is an essential part of who we are was very humanizing. In other words, experiencing the appeal of a quick fix magic substance does not mean that something is wrong with us. We can pause, allow the light and embrace the desire and see if we get high without the fix. The opponent wants us to go for the fix rather than accepting the tikkun or correction that could mean going through the tension or pain before experiencing the joy of light. Then maybe with a blessing enjoy your food, cafe au lait or glass of wine.

Che: We are always being replenished by the light by giving and receiving. Focusing on loved ones, such as aging parents, during this pandemic could be a natural way of fulfilling the desire to give and receive. Can we give without an agenda? This may start when we allow ourselves to receive or appreciate our loved ones.

Annette: Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable is perhaps a way of embracing our response to the opponent in our lives with compassion. Eitan said we observe the voice of the opponent with our soul. If we resist reactivity, pause then respond to a disturbance, a natural circuitry can happen between giving and receiving. If our soul is responding to the creator, then perhaps we will have the strength to be open hearted, vulnerable and imperfect.

Cyndi: Sharing can stem from appreciation for loved ones as in the heartfelt zoom gathering for Cyndi's grandmother. There is no agenda, just a desire to share appreciation for someone who is loved and has had a positive influence on a family who wants to be present during her last days in the world.

Alex: Sometimes it may be necessary to step back from a situation involving loss. This could be a transformational time to focus on intention. May the loss of Alex's friends, Cyndi's grandmother and Che's friend leave them with blessed memories.

Alex also brought up the experience of giving someone a thoughtful meaningful perhaps expensive gift and getting no response from that person? I think the kabbalists would say pause and ask the creator. Why is this happening in my movie, then anticipate an answer. This could be an exciting venture into the unknown. Alex, let us know if you would like to share:)

Eitan said that the homework is to have the intention to shift into sharing in mundane areas of our lives. He spoke of sharing without an agenda as transformational sharing. I am reminded of a waiter in a little restaurant in Rome who insisted that we try the sheep's cheese that he carried on a plate to our table. He did not ask us to order the sheep's cheese, rather had a deep appreciation that he just had to share with us without any agenda. The sheep's cheese was wonderful. The waiter received his appreciation for the cheese, that was reminiscent of the Italian countryside, and naturally wanted to share. We received his gift and expressed our appreciation creating a natural light circuit of giving and receiving.

The opponent in our lives can be a reminder to turn our attention toward appreciation. Genuine appreciation cultivates joy and creates a natural desire to share. The essence of the soul is the desire to receive. Because we all come from the original vessel, we are all craving fulfillment with infinite light and joy. The desire is created through fragmentation of separation or the big bang so we experience the desire through feeling incomplete. If we are endlessly receiving, we experience something called "the bread of shame" that blocks the desire. .Eitan spoke of "the bread or shame" as shutting down the light circuitry in our DNA. Perhaps this is why a toddler often repeats the phrase "by myself." Learning how to do things "by myself" creates joy and then a natural desire to share.
